How far would you go for some lekker chow? For this woman, it’s from South Africa to Australia!

One couple originally from KZN is making headlines after they shipped a mutton curry all the way to Australia after tasting a delicious bunny chow from Cafe Cuba.

This bunny chow from Chef Carl Reddy at Cornubia Mall was so good that they had to give their buddies from Australia the pleasure of tasting it. This little taste from home was a must for Lynette Govender and her husband, Logan.

In March, they visited Cafe Cuba in the 031 after Lynette, a member of the Appetite group on Facebook, saw the Cafe Cuba bunny chow.

For obvious reasons, the bunny did not make it across the globe. However, the genius chef created a deconstructed version that would last the long haul.

Lynette shares with IOL: "We froze the curry and packed it in a cooler bag with lots of ice packs. We could not take the bread because customs are strict with things like that. We also bought spices from Durban, which they threw away, so we got lucky with the curry from the bunny chow because they allowed us through.”

After a whopping 25-hour trip, Lynette’s friends finally got a taste of Mzansi. We do not doubt that they were hoping for more.

A round of applause for a Durban curry prepared in a Durban kitchen to enter Australian borders!
