People will sift through the sand at points from Richards Bay to Port St Johns to try and remove the 'nurdles' from coastline.

Organiser, Caroline Reid estimates there could be up to 2 billion nurdles along the coast.

The pellets can absorb pollutants and pose a health risk to marine life and humans if they enter the food chain. Reid explains the best way to remove the pellets.
