Gold for Cell C Sharks
Updated | By Lungani Mnguni
Gold, who currently coaches in Japan, succeeds Jake White who last month announced he would be stepping down from the role after only one season with the local team.
Gold, who is a former Springbok assistant coach, says the news that he would be joining the Sharks was a pleasant surprise.
"No probably it would need to be pretty wild dreams for me have envisaged this. I'm just really honoured to be here. It's an amazing union and aspirational union for any coach who's got ambition. So brilliant to be here," he said.
