Freak wave crashes into south coast restaurant, 5 hurt

A huge freak wave has left five people badly hurt after crashing into a
restaurant on the KZN south coast.
Medics say one person had to be rescued at Marina Beach on Sunday.
"The quick reaction of the lifegaurds led to the person being rescued from the seashore after being washed out,"
says a spokesperson for Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service, Chantelle Botha.
"Paramedics assessed all patrons that have been injured. Five of which were in serious injuries. These patients were treated and stabilised before being transported to the nearest hospital."
Meanwhile, the SA Weather Service has issued an alert for damaging waves expected between Port Edward and Cape St Lucia.

Over the weekend gale force winds and rough seas combined with the new moon spring tide saw the country's coastline battered by massive waves.
The NSRI says a 93-year-old woman died when she was swept off her feet in a car park in the Southern Cape.
Images on social media show waves crashing onto streets and properties along the Eastern and Western Cape's coastal areas.
