Chrissy Teigen slams trolls after opening up about her life-saving abortion

Chrissy says the miscarriage she suffered in 2020 was actually a life-saving abortion.
American model Chrissy Teigen has clapped back at internet trolls who accused her of lying about her 2020 miscarriage.
Chrissy - who is married to singer John Legend - revealed last week that she recently came to realise that her miscarriage was a life-saving abortion.
The 36-year-old lost her unborn Jack at around 20 weeks into her pregnancy. She shared an emotional post in 2020 along with a heartbreaking picture of herself from the hospital bed.
"We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough," she wrote in the post.
Chrissy revealed in a lengthy essay shortly afterward that doctors had diagnosed her with partial placenta abruption.
"I had always had placenta problems. I had to deliver Miles a month early because his stomach wasn’t getting enough food from my placenta. But this was my first abruption. We monitored it very closely, hoping for things to heal and stop. In bed, I bled and bled, lightly but all day, changing my own diapers every couple of hours when the blood got uncomfortable to lay in," she wrote in an essay shared on Medium.

Speaking at a recent event hosted by Propper Daley, Chrissy says it took her a year to realise that her delivery was actually a life-saving abortion.
"Two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, John, and my third child, I had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions. It became very clear around halfway through that he would not survive, and that I wouldn't either without any medical intervention, " The Hollywood Reporter quoted her as saying.
The publication says Chrissy then went on to talk about her miscarriage, but soon corrected herself.
"Let's just call it what it was: It was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance. And to be honest, I never, ever put that together until, actually, a few months ago."
Social media users reacted with shock to the news. While some called Chrissy brave for opening up about her pregnancy loss, some called her a liar.
"Chrissy Teigen telling the world that she had a miscarriage and letting everybody believe she had a miscarriage when in fact she had an abortion is …. weird to me," one Twitter user wrote.
Another user added: "Chrissy Teigen aborted her baby at 20 weeks. She had a photo shoot and publicly mourned the death. Now…she’s saying it was a life-saving (hers) medical abortion. Riiiight before elections."
A third person wrote: "Chrissy Teigen lied about having a miscarriage and I am FUMING. I'm so sorry for her that she had to make the decision to have an abortion for a baby she wanted to keep. JUST DON'T FUCKING LIE ABOUT A MISCARRIAGE! THAT'S SO FUCKED UP AND HORRIBLE TO LIE ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE THAT!"
But many came to Chrissy's defence.
"Thank you, @chrissyteigen for sharing your story. I also had a medically necessary abortion that I called a miscarriage for many years. Your story is so powerful for helping others to understand the broad impact of abortion bans.," one woman wrote.

If you ban abortion, that means the mother either could be killed with her baby or she survives but the mother could go to jail with the doctor.
Where is the benefit of that?

For so many women, miscarriages require an abortion. The abortion is the medical intervention that saves them from additional harm. It's such a shame that we even have to explain these details to people in order to protect our reproductive rights. My heart is still with y'all 💞

Chrissy took to Twitter to respond to the hate she was getting.
"I knew this would happen, and honestly I’ve already seen you do your worst so if this makes you feel better, great. It doesn’t make me feel worse though," she captioned an image of some of the hurtful comments.
The 'Cravings by Chrissy Teigen' author added in a separate tweet: "I told you all we had a miscarriage because I thought that was what it was. But it was an abortion, and we were heartbroken and grateful all at once. It just took me over a year to realize it."

Chrissy and John announced in August that they are expecting again. The couple already has two children together - Luna and Miles.
She will no doubt be drowning out the hate to focus on the new addition to their family.
"The last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again. 1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way. Every appointment I’ve said to myself, “ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce” but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat, " she wrote on Instagram while sharing her pregnancy news.
