Fourteen months after saying their "I do's", Britney Spears and her husband Sam Asghari are heading for Splitsville.

Multiple reports confirm that Sam filed for divorce on Wednesday, August 16. He listed their date of separation as July 28.

TMZ was the first to report about the couple's separation, claiming that they called it quits after an argument about alleged cheating.

According to the publication, Britney, who has a net worth of $50-million (R956-million) to $70-million (R1.3-billion), has an ironclad prenup. However, Sam is asking for spousal support and wants the 41-year-old singer to pay his attorney fees.

Court documents also reveal that the Iranian-American model and actor could contest the prenup.

"[Sam] has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party.... There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to [Sam] at this time," the documents read, according to TMZ.

There are also reports that Britney, who married Sam after ending her 13-year conservatorship, might have to pay her ex hush money.

Page Six is reporting that Sam is threatening to release ‘extraordinarily embarrassing’ information about her if she does not pay him more than what is stated in their prenup.

A source told the publication that Sam is "attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup".

Britney and Sam tied the knot in an intimate ceremony held at her Los Angeles mansion in June 2020.

"Wow! Holy holy crap! WE DID IT! WE GOT MARRIED! Gggggeeeeezzzzz! It was the most spectacular day! I was so nervous all morning but then at 2:00 pm it really hit me … WE’RE GETTING MARRIED! I had a panic attack and then got it together," the 'Toxic' singer wrote on Instagram.

Several family members, including Britney's father and mother, did not attend the ceremony. Her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, were also not present.

"I'm really happy for them, but she didn't invite the whole family, and then if it was just going to be me and Preston, I just don't see how that situation would have ended on good terms," Jayden James told the Daily Mail.

A-list stars, including Selena Gomez, Madonna, Drew Barrymore, and Paris Hilton, were pictured at the wedding.

Britney is yet to respond to news about her divorce. She instead took to Instagram to reveal that she has plans to buy a horse.
