Bebe Rexha opens up about anxiety caused by weight criticism
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
The singer is not feeling good about her body and has even considered skipping events.
Bebe Rexha says she gets anxious and stressed whenever she has to get ready for a red carpet appearance.
The 'I'm A Mess' singer opened up about her anxiety ahead of the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Tuesday, September 12.
Bebe says she feels less confident after gaining weight, especially because people constantly talk about the way she looks.
"I know that the criticism comes with the territory so I am all good with that. I mean, sometimes it does get to me. I am human... I wanted just to talk about this because I meet a lot of people and a lot of times they'll be like, 'Oh my God, I love how you're all about positivity and confident.' Let me tell you, right now, I'm not feeling so confident," the 34-year-old said in a video shared on TikTok.

Bebe adds that she has even considered skipping the VMAs despite already having a "cute" outfit picked out for the event.
"I am so anxious and stressed about going on the red carpet and, I guess, people talking about my weight. I'm not really loving myself right now. I'm not really feeling like the bad b***h that I usually am. I guess everybody has these days, and nobody ever feels perfect."
The singer is nominated in the 'Best Collaboration' category for her song with David Guetta, 'I'm Good (Blue)'.
The collaboration is up against five other songs including Rema and Selena Gomez's 'Calm Down'.
Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, Sam Smith, Kim Petras, SZA and Taylor Swift are nominated in the coveted 'Video of the Year' category.
Taylor has a total of 11 nominations while SZA has eight.
The 'Anti-Hero' singer will also face off with Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Karol G, Nicki Minaj and Shakira for 'Artist of the Year'.
