He went six decades without bathing and eventually was forced to bath...
We remember hearing about this story just over a year ago - and we were astonished as to this man's lifestyle.
Amou Haji was just a man in his 90s living a less than simple life in a small town in Iran. He believed that not having a bath was the key to his mortality.
According to the news sources. he was afraid of water and this had a lot to do with his chosen bath-less life. Amou passed away on Sunday, in the village of Dejgah in Iran’s southern province of Fars.

Haji fear was deep rooted and he believed that having a bath would make him sick.
"The man who gained global attention for not bathing for over six decades allegedly suffered some “emotional setbacks in his youth”, which was one of the reasons why he had made the decision not taking a bath with water or soap." (MSN)
However, for the first time in a long time, the villagers persuaded him to bath. Sadly, it seems his fear came to light when he fell ill not long after taking the bath.
Despite popular belief, he was able to stay healthy because of his predominantly 'unhealthy' lifestyle.
After medical tests were done on him, the doctors were able to establish the following: "Dr Molavi was astonished to find that Haji had not suffered from any bacteria or parasites apart from Trichinosis, a parasite that comes from eating raw meat and causes a common infection. But for Haji, he did not suffer from any symptoms. Dr Molova concluded that Haji was able to remain healthy for so many years because he had developed a strong immune system after decades of living in extremely harsh conditions." (Daily Mail)
