Being a lover of travel is one thing, but having the funds to make it come true is a whole other ball game.

And having travelled we can firmly tell you that the costs add up.

Therefore, if you want to travel for longer periods and don't have the means to do so, TikTok videos on housesitting have presented a great option.

One woman decided to take the leap and found that housesitting was a legitimate way of saving on paying rent.

Especially in the prime city of London, UK. Ruby Frances, originally from New Zealand, saw videos about housesitting on TikTok and so decided to join some groups on Facebook to start her housesitting journey.

People recommended that she visit a website called, Trusted House Sitters. She then set up a profile and started finding places to stay.

Check out a video of an American woman sharing her experience of housesitting in France.

Frances admitted that as much as she has to be around to look after the owner's cats, and can't have anyone over, it does allow her lots of freedom.

And the fact that you don't pay for accommodation is pretty sweet too.

"Ruby has recently secured herself a permanent job and home but says she's thinking of using house sitting again when going on travels. When I was doing it someone online said 'I'm squatting - girl boss edition.' I was just living out of a suitcase and going from house to house exploring London." (Cambridge News)
