We take a look at the Proudly SA 'Wear Local Everyday' fashion competition that celebrates our heritage...
We are all about celebrating fashion, but when it is paired with our unique and diverse heritage, it just ups the ante. We recently came across the Proudly SA Fashion Police competition that is being run from 2 to 16 September (so there's still some time left to enter).
The Proudly SA brand is calling on all South Africans to share their local fashion outfit on their social pages. It really speaks to Heritage Month and celebrating our abstract style as a nation.
"The Proudly SA campaign has launched a local fashion police project on its social media platforms, to promote people wearing locally-designed and manufactured clothing and accessories. Fashion guru David Tlale and Palse Africa's Paledi Segapo, along with Plus Fab's Ouma Tema and Koop Studio's Sandy Rogers, will be judging the competition." (News24)
South Africans are encouraged to share their sense of style from locally-sourced designers, using the hashtag #WearLocalEveryday. Proudly SA stands true to its premise of encouraging the use of locally-sourced products by locally-sourced producers.
And we have got to say that this campaign is quite on point when it comes to celebrating local designers and their talent in sharing culture, tradition, and style.
If you were one of our #LocalFashionPolice for a day, how would you judge this look ?

The judges gave some advice as to what they would be looking out for.
David Tlale said: "I will be judging on innovation and personal style, with a sense of flair!"
"Segapo said he would be watching for colours and shapes which complement the wearer. While, Tema said she would be looking for 'models' that celebrated their own larger forms." (News24)
