Why do we only send flowers to women and not men?
Updated | By Vic Naidoo
Flowers are a beautiful part of nature and they can easily brighten someone's home and are a thoughtful, sweet gift to receive, no matter what your gender.
When it comes to gift-giving, gender tends to play quite a big role in the choice of gift, whether it be consciously or subconsciously.

There's no denying that although more men wear the colour pink nowadays, you would most likely reach for a shirt of another colour before buying your father, brother or lover a pink shirt.
The same can be said when it comes to women.

You might buy a woman a bottle of wine instead of whiskey because it seems like the more feminine drink.
But flowers are pretty gender-neutral.

They are just plants that form part of the life on Earth and, just like shells or other types of plants, you don't have to split up flowers into two different categories that are appropriate for each gender.
During the week Vic and his team received the following e-mail and decided to address the situation today:
"Hey Vic,
I know you do a feature called Normalise on your show so I want to suggest something.
On Monday while I was working from home the doorbell rang, and it was a flower delivery.
I’m talking a massive bouquet of flowers.
So, I immediately thought the guy had the wrong address, but then I checked and they were actually for me!
It turns out my girlfriend sent me flowers! And the whole week I’ve had these flowers on display in my house and I love it!
There’s no reason why men shouldn’t be given flowers too. It feels really good, and they’re beautiful.
Please ask KZN if we can normalise sending men flowers?
Thanks for a great show." - Kyle in Durban
