When catastrophe hits: The story of a disaster of epic proportions

As the famous saying goes: "Accidents happen."

Parents have used this phrase for generations as they try to convince us we won't get into trouble if we confess to destroying something precious.
Now as adults, we also use it to try and convince ourselves.

Have you ever left your apartment and you instantly try to remember if you locked all the doors?
Or maybe you have had that classic "did I turn the stove off?" moment more times than you can count?

And we return home to find the floors flooded, rooms filled with smoke or worse...
