Love clearly comes in all shapes, sizes, and ages...
A couple who are quite active on TikTok have been receiving lots of hate online.
Jackie, who is originally from the Philippines and is 27-years-old, is married to Dave, who is 69-years-old and from the United States of America.
It isn’t something new or groundbreaking when it comes to differently aged couples. We have seen it before, but one thing remains consistent, the amount of hate and level of discomfort from people online.
However, the common stereotype surrounding the younger/older age difference has always been associated with the 'gold digger' mentality.
Generally speaking, society has learnt from one or two other stories that a young woman can only be with a considerably older man because of his money.
Whether or not that is the case for everyone, we are not sure, but it shouldn't be a matter of public opinion.
Jackie and Dave have been married for four years and the hate and trolling that they receive online has not stopped them from sharing their content online.
They met over a dating app when Dave was in Cebu, Philippines several years ago and hit it off.
And as much as there is that seeding thought that she may be using him for his money, or to get a green card, perhaps it is time for us to step back and celebrate people for finding love at any age.
