Practical tips that we don't generally think of before going shopping...
There is always room for learning and one of the areas where all South Africans can benefit from is finance.
In particular, building a healthy relationship with money.
The amount of debt advertisers that reign on the net nowadays is a great indicator of the financial state of affairs of many South Africans.
And, so, we do appreciate any tips and advice that can be offered on the topic. We are familiar with the podcast called, 'The Hustle with Justin Harrison', where he talks all things money.

But he doesn't run a solo act. You see, his wife, Andrea Harrison, also is quite savvy by nature.
And as a way of celebrating National Financial Awareness Day, we wanted to share some of her valued tips this mid-month.
In a video, she focused on her tips to follow before going out grocery shopping.
And as much as they sound simple, her tips actually are a great reminder that it pays to be prepared before going out to shop.

Just in case you need to read it out to remember it, then here are her tips below:
1. Eat before going shopping. This way you don't spend on items compulsively because you are hungry.
2. When something is cheap in bulk, buy it. She uses the example of bananas, a box of bananas was going for R19.99, while sometimes when you buy them loose, they are priced more as it works on weight.
3. Compare the prices of individually marked items and bags. Sometimes a bag of something works out cheaper than a single item.
4. Always go shopping with a shopping list. If not, then you open yourself up to impulse purchasing.
