Always look through your spam folder!
Traditionally, we all know the spam folder to be the place that gives us fake promises of riches and is filled with scams of some sort or the other. But, in this case, we are definitely more inclined to open up that folder and give it a moment of our time.
An American woman, Laura Spears, did just that and it worked out in her favour. She showed us that it really 'pays' to be thorough and check all your folders.
Laura received an email informing her that she had won the lottery jackpot of $3-million. "She bought a Mega Millions ticket on the Michigan Lottery website for a draw on 31 December last year. She matched five numbers to win $1m (£740,000) and managed to multiply her prize by three because she had paid for a "Megaplier"" (Sky News)
I saw an ad on Facebook that the Mega Millions jackpot was getting pretty high, so I got on my account and bought a ticket. A few days later, I was looking for a missing email from someone, so I checked the spam folder in my email account. That's when I saw an email from the lottery saying I had won a prize. I couldn't believe what I was reading, so I logged in to my lottery account to confirm the message in the email.

She will be retiring and sharing her winnings with her family. But more than that she admitted that she will definitely be checking her spam folder on the regular.
