"My boyfriend's mother says I'm a bad GF for not cleaning up his room?!"
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Come on, mom, really now...
Keeping one's living space clean and tidy says a lot about a person.
It is also an indication of how you live your life, sometimes the physical manifests into the emotional and things can get messy.
So we understand why our parents always moaned about cleaning up the room. It was the foundational start of preparing us for adulthood.
Now the lines get blurry for some folks because they are adults and are still living at home. Which can be tricky for parents.
Because then where do you draw the line, treating your kid like a young adult, without babying them and also teaching them to be responsible.
This all comes into play after a girlfriend shared that her boyfriend's mother had a huge argument with him about her being a bad girlfriend.
Why?
Because she did not help him clean his room...
Her boyfriend and her are in their early twenties and he still lives at home so as to save money whilst studying.
She revealed that her boyfriend and his mother have always had a rocky relationship. After having this argument with his mother, he shared with his girlfriend what his mother said.
The girlfriend in fact stays over every weekend, so the mother felt warranted to say that she should help him clean the room as she stays over often.
People really got revved up about the situation and therefore the moderators on the group shut down the comments section. And we don't particularly blame them. At first glance it did sound like the mother had it in for the girlfriend...

The girlfriend admitted that perhaps she should cut the mother some slack, as she does in fact stay over often.
She has decided to limit sleepovers and also helped her boyfriend clean his room. She realised that perhaps she was putting quite a bit of pressure on the mother staying over and is happy to say that the mother invited her on their family trip.
The girlfriend ended it off by saying that she wants to work at her relationship with her boyfriend's mother and hopes to one day be the daughter-in-law in the family.
