Man gets paid 286 times his salary, resigns and flees his company
And to think he went to HR to report the incorrect payment and then decided to flee!
If you received a significantly different amount to your usual salary at the end of the month, would you tell your company?
A man from Chile received a larger salary than he was owed. As much as we like to believe in luck, there is luck and then there is human error.
In this case, it was definitely human error!
"One individual who struck it lucky and had to make the ultimate decision this year is a Chilean man, who accidentally got paid 286 times his salary in May.
The business paid him 1,653,988.51 Chilean pesos (R3.2 million), instead of his usual 500,000 pesos (R9, 965.19)." (MSN)
That's a considerable difference, that's a "clerical error" of epic proportions.
The man who reportedly worked at Consorcio Industrial de Alimentos (Cial), a Chilean company that produces cold cuts of meat in the province of Santiago, vanished with the money.
He reportedly informed his HR department of the error and even promised to return it.
But that did not happen. He saw his chance and decided to run with it...
"Upon inspecting their payroll records, Cial confirmed that the employee had been given 286 times his wages.
Cial waited for the refunded amount, but never got a notification from the bank. They tried to get in contact with the worker again, but the attempts were to no avail." (MSN)

The employee is said to have resigned at the beginning of June 2022 and has yet to return the money.
Cial has taken legal action against the employee and are hoping to have their money returned.
