A McDonald’s customer was arrested after he allegedly bit a seagull.
The bird had apparently tried to steal his food when the man attacked it in front of authorities.
The animal was reportedly injured after suffering the bite but flew away before police could inspect it.
The officers from a local unit were on patrol when they witnessed the incident in Plymouth, England.
In a statement released about the arrest, police said: “He sunk his teeth into it before throwing it to the floor. Officers had seen the incident and immediately went over and detained and took details from him.”
The suspect later admitted to being under the influence of drugs and was taken to hospital for treatment.
He is currently in police custody as seagulls are a protected species in the area.
He is facing up to six months in prison and a fine of about R100,000.
