Man admits to borrowing a book and returning it years later
Updated | By East Coast Radio
A different way of looking at returning an item...
After seeing a video online that ruffled some feathers, where a customer tried to take back an item to a store whilst it was still in its warranty period, we wanted to ask our Facebook family about returning items.
Now, the question was: "Have you ever tried to return an item after using it for a period of time?"
And looking back, in hindsight, we realise that question was a bit open-ended, but what we got out of it was a story.
A man in the post, Mr Le Roux, shared a story about how he once borrowed a book, 'The Da Vinci Code', from a lady at the airport and after a year he still had the book.
Four years later, he met her at the airport again and finally returned the book.
Of course, there are many missing parts to the story that intrigued us. For instance, how did he know that the person was going to be at the airport?
Luckily, someone asked the question for us.
It seemed that the woman actually worked for a tour company at the airport and they became friends.
The details are a bit hazy, but even though he took the post to mean an item he borrowed, we loved the story that came of it.
It got us thinking of how many people borrow things and don't return them, or vice versa. People who lend things and either hold a grudge for not getting it back, or people who lend things and forget about it.
