Major retailer announces that it will be paying employees extra if they get vaccinated

While people might have very different opinions surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine, many companies have revealed plans for encouraging employees to get the jab.
While no-one should be forced to do something against their will, people can be nudged in the right direction.

Countries across the world, including the USA and South Africa, are setting records daily for positive COVID-19 cases and deaths.
One of the few things out there that has been restoring hope is the vaccine.

Over recent years, many people have made it clear they are against vaccines of any kind and this poses an even bigger threat for the control of COVID-19.
Now in hopes of encouraging vaccination, many companies have announced plans for employee rewards.

But it is important to note that no-one will be forced to take the vaccine against their will.
According to Business Insider, the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission allows employers to separate those who choose not to get inoculated, but it also protects those who do not get vaccinated because of their health (underlying medical conditions) or religious beliefs.

Most of these plans have a rewards program type of layout.
The Dollar General, an American retailer, has become the first major retailer to offer compensation for employees who get vaccinated.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that the chain will offer all of their 157,000 employees four hours worth of pay to get the vaccine and they will also be eligible for paid time off if they experience any adverse reactions from the vaccine.
This has been introduced as low-income, essential workers, like those working at Dollar General, are more at risk of contracting COVID-19, especially on the job.

While this might seem like a very unconventional way of motivating and encouraging people to vaccinate, nothing about this pandemic has been conventional, so let's see how it plays out.
