Lerato Kganyago opens up about feuding between female DJs

Unfortunately, the music industry has been pitting female artists against each other for decades, no matter what the genre.
From Nicki Minaj and Cardi B to Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.

Many women have spoken up about how they feel like they're constantly being compared to and are competing against other women within the industry.
Instead of being motivated and encouraged to support one another, the public, 'fans', and the media seem to enjoy it more when female celebs try to knock each other down.

It's now also hit closer to home with Lerato Kganyago speaking up about the same issues happening in the South African music scene.
While the DJing scene is still very much predominantly male in SA, there has been a steady and consistent rise of female DJ's over the last few years.

From the likes of DJ Zinhle, DBN Gogo, Lamiez Holworthy, Lerato herself, and many more.
Taking to Twitter, Lerato did reveal a bit more about what might be happening behind the scenes when gig line-ups are revealed.

She then further explained by referring to a specific situation, but chose not to name the other DJ involved.
Instead, she once again mentioned how women in the industry should work together, and try to support each other, because there are enough gigs and other opportunities to go around.

Finally, she wanted to once again emphasise that every person brings something different to the table and there is no need to compete.
So to any person who needs to hear this: when women choose to support one another, incredible things can happen.
