Child influencers who live in the state of Illinois will now be protected by the law when it comes to their earnings.
"The state of Illinois has made history by being the first in the nation to pass legislation at protecting child influencers. As per AP, the law will 'entitle influencers under the age of 16 to a percentage of earnings based on how often they appear on video blogs or online content that generates at least 10 cents per view.'" (Unilad)
Since the law has only been passed in the state of Illinois, the content would have to be created in the state to fall under the law. And the kid/s have to be featured in at least 30% of the content over a 30-day time frame.
The money that is generated must be secured for the child in a trust, that can be accessible to the child when they turn 18.
