INSPIRING: Durban mum and son duo graduate together
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Ronica Bagwandin and her son, Nervay, shared in a mother-son special and unique moment as they graduated together.
What a feeling it must be to be able to share one of the highlights of your life with the person that has most likely been the biggest cheerleader of all time, your mother. And then for a mother to share a highlight for many parents, your child's graduation.
But the difference is they were not attending as a plus one, but rather as fellow graduates.
This mother-son duo didn't just share their lives together, they managed to graduate together. What a milestone moment!
Mum, Ronica Bagwandin, and son, Nervay Bagwandin, attended their graduation ceremony together at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) Autumn virtual graduation.
"Ronica Bagwandin, who works at UKZN, graduated with a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree and her son Nervay graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma (Hons) in Bachelor of Commerce Accounting," reports IOL.
Ronica wanted to partake in this studious journey with her son because she believed that this would be the ultimate motivation for the two of them.
“A parent wants nothing more than to see their child succeed – seeing him accomplish his dream is a blessing,” she said.
“We wept tears of joy together when we both passed our finals. That was the most precious moment in my life," Ronica added.
What a proud combo these two are and more than that, what a wonderful example they set for other mums and sons, who are having a hard time connecting.
Nervay told IOL News: “I admire her courage and strength to pursue her degree. She showed great perseverance and has always inspired me through leading by example. I am who I am because of her strength and determination.”
