Guy who bet red with his entire life savings returns to Vegas

It paid off for him when he managed to double his bet from R2.5-million to R5-million.

Ashley Revell, does that name ring any sort of bell to you?

Well, if you don't know who he is, then allow us to enlighten you. He was the man that sold all his belongings, including his clothing, and took all $135,300 of it to the casino. 

But get this, he bet it all on one spin on the roulette table. 

"Back in 2004, the Londoner, who was 32 at the time, decided to sell everything he had - including his home and his clothes - to gamble £76,840 (US$135,300) all on red at the Plaza Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas." (Ladbible

Just to put things into perspective for you, his entire life savings amounted to R2,519,962.50. 

The moment that would decide his future was filmed as part of a reality show on Sky One network, which was called, 'Double or Nothing'.

Luckily, Revell listened to the audience and chose 'Red' and ended up doubling his bet with a winnings of $270,600 (R5,039,925.00).

He went on to use the money to open up his own internet poker site and also managed to meet his wife after winning. 

After fifteen years, he returned to the Plaza Hotel and Casino, this time he made a different bet, but the odds weren't that high.
