People and their pets have become more and more in tuned with each other over the years.
The relationship between pets and their owners has become more sentimental. And we get it.
For the most part, we can only truly rely on our pets. They give us their loyalty, unconditional love and commitment and always stand with us.
So, it comes as no surprise that the future innovators, aka Gen Z, have come out on top with their commitment to their pets.
"A February survey of 2,000 pet owners split evenly by generation showed only 15% of Gen Z would rather buy an expensive concert ticket or go on vacation (30%) with saved cash, whereas 42% would prefer to save the money for unexpected pet expenses." (New York Post)
What was even more interesting was that Gen Z are more likely to want to spend $100 (R 1,836) on their pet than their partner.
Now, that says a lot about their undying commitment to their furry fam.
"And, Gen Zers admit they get more joy from seeing their pet happy than their partner (36% vs 21%), more than any other generation." (New York Post)
You see the love for a pet goes beyond what others see. And that is something that not everyone gets. But what we do get is that pets are family members.
The extents to which pet owners are willing to go are commendable, one respondent even bought their dog a princess spa trip.
