#ECRTattoosVIC: What is the story behind your first tattoo?
Updated | By Vic Naidoo
You never forget your first tattoo. Sometimes for good reason, sometimes for bad.
So, I’m thinking about getting a tattoo.
I recently joined the team from Johannesburg and I’m looking for some new ink to mark the move to KZN’s number one hit music station.
But tattoos are a pretty big deal and I always want to get just the right thing.
So, when I was doing some research, I came across a study that says even though about a third of American parents have some tattoos themselves, 78 percent with teenage children would refuse if their teen requested one.
Now it’s not uncommon for people to get their first tattoo at a young age, in secret from their parents.
But rarely people get their first tattoo as grown adults to mark an important occasion.
Surprisingly, the study revealed that 63% of parents think of tattoos as another way teens express themselves, like dying hair or making a fashion statement.
But they are thankful for strong state laws that require parental consent for tattoos in the under-18 group.
What is the story behind your tattoo and when did you get it?
