If you have ever watched the series 'How I Met Your Mother', you might remember one episode where the lead character Ted Mosby goes on his first date with Robin Scherbatsky.

You don't tell the person you love them, you don't talk about your ex, and you DEFINITELY do not ask the person to marry you.

The setup: Lee had called the restaurant in Glasgow ahead of time, pretending to be Stephen, and explained that he was going to pop the question.

What he wanted was a glass of Prosecco champagne and a plate with a slice of cheesecake to be brought to the table with the following message - "Will you marry me?"

He even sent a friend that Stephen wouldn't recognise, so the moment could be captured.

The whole thing cost Lee £140 (R3,000) but he says it was completely worth it.

Best friends: can't live with them, can't live without them!
