The definition of being petty is as follows:
- to be mean or ungenerous in small or trifling things, or
- caused by meanness of spirit

Obviously, one should try not to be petty and mean towards others.But that is also easier said than done.
Sometimes you just can't help it.

An act of petty revenge might not be the best long-term way to deal with your issues, but it can temporarily make you feel like you've won.
