The moral debate: If you found money at the ATM, what would you do?

Deshin, a KZN listener, sent through a voice note with a moral debate. He found R500 at an ATM, and went to great measures to make sure the money would be returned to the rightful owner.

If someone forgets to take their money at the ATM machine, is it legal for the next person to keep the money? Well whether it’s legal or not, the question is if it’s morally okay to take it?

I mean, let’s be honest, the easiest thing would be to keep the money, but there are other options as well - to report it at a police station, give it in at the information desk at the shopping centre where the atm ism or just give it in at the bank.
Personally, I’d definitely give it in, not only because I would hope someone would do the same if they found my money, but also you don’t want to be caught on camera basically stealing the money.
