Ten-year-old boy finds buried treasure!
Once upon a time, there lived a little boy who dreamed of finding magnificent objects that have been hidden away...
On the banks of the River Blackwater, in a town in Northern Ireland, this boy accidentally found the treasure he had always been searching for.

Ten-year-old Fionntan Hughes had innocently asked for a metal detector for his birthday. Being eager to test it out, he immediately set out on his treasure hunt.
Although probably expecting to only find loose change and random lost objects, he was overwhelmed and excited when he found this massive artifact.

It turns out that the object is what remains of a 300-year-old sword!
Fionntan and his father explained that the metal-detector's first two finds were pretty insignificant, but little did they know that the third would lead them to a centuries-old artifact.
After digging it up, taking it home, and cleaning it, they quickly realised they had stumbled across quite the find.

Antique arms dealer Philip Spooner, who has 30 years of experience, examined the object and found that it likely belonged to an English officer (which was used from 1720 to 1780) or a Scottish basket hilt (used from 1700 to 1850).
