As a listener, we’ve all heard songs that sound very similar. It happens.
But what one person calls inspiration, another may call theft.
Shakira went through it when her hit song ‘Loca’ apparently included 'substantial copying of other artists' lyrics'. Now it seems that Taylor Swift may have landed herself in a bit of trouble.
According to Spin, Swift has been sued on the accusation of stealing lyrics for her 2014 hit ‘Shake it Off’. 3LW's 2001 hit, 'Playas Gon' Play', is the song she allegedly copied.

The case was thrown out of court as the judge said that the lyrics weren’t ‘sufficiently original to merit copyright protection’.
Songwriting duo, Sean Hall and Nathan Butler, allege that Swift's lyrics were based on 3LW's phrase 'players, they gonna play, and haters, they gonna hate'.

It is reported that while the judge has thrown the matter out of court, the duo can file another case if they want to.
