Shout for joy! Teacher screams at pupils for getting good marks
Updated | By Damon Beard
Of all the methods of motivation from teachers, this by far is the most creative one we've seen thus far.
When a teacher screams at you, you’d think that he or she was shouting because you’d done something wrong, right? But not this particular teacher from a school in Joburg who’s been applauded for praising a student for her excellent work. His particular method is raising eyebrows.
In the video, which went viral on social media this week, Wayne Tewson from Bracken High School in Alberton is seen walking to one of his students, shouting: “What is this?” Naturally confused and afraid, the Grade 10 pupil can be heard saying: “It is my work, sir.”

But when Mr Tewson responds by shouting: “This is absolutely brilliant!” “Go to the front! Go to the front so we can clap!” – you can see the look of relief on the learners face. The girl walks to the front of the class victorious while being cheered on by her classmates.
Speaking to Times Live, the creative arts and design teacher said that he decided to take the notion of teachers being caught ranting in class and decided to turn it on its head.
“Lately, students across the world have been trying to catch teachers ranting or shouting in class at any moment. I just created a twist and made it positive. We had a good laugh after they put down their phones," he said.
