Inspiring morning at the #ECRBusinessBreakfast
Updated | By Damon Beard
It was my first Standard Bank and ECR Business Breakfast yesterday, and what an inspiring and truly memorable morning it was.

Four of the country's top influencers shared their journeys with us: singing sensation Lira, thought leader and funny man Khaya Dlanga, investigative journalist Derek Watts and Gordon Institute of Business founder, Professor Nick Binedell.
It was a brilliant morning and I got to meet tons of people. We took photos together, we laughed and joked and more importantly, at the end of the morning, I'm pretty sure I can say that we were all left feeling inspired, with minds racing.
Who was your favourite?
Tough choice but I have to say that I loved Lira.

For me she embraces confidence and warmth. She's genuine, with no airs and graces and what you see is what you get.
She's also, without a doubt, one of the most recognized South African musicians of our time, winning fans both locally and abroad with her incredible voice.
What an amazing story of quitting her job as a financial accountant to follow her heart and her love of music.
All four speakers were great though and for me a close second was Khaya Dlanga and his hilarious stories of growing up in the Eastern Cape.
I can't wait for next year's event.
