Driving instructor in hot water over 'reckless' driving
Updated | By Damon Beard
A road safety decision has caused a driving instructor to be the center of a heated debate on social media.
Rules of the road are in place to ensure that motorists and passengers are safe, but sometimes, some drivers break it intentionally to avoid incidents from occurring.
A driving instructor called Lauren Cope has found herself in a pickle after she was caught on dash cam footage swerving between lanes to avoid smashing into a turning vehicle.

Many have called her out by saying that she should have instead applied brakes instead of swerving, which is a dangerous feat to attempt.
Lauren isn't any regular driving instructor. Daily Mail reports that she is a race car fan, and was spotted on social media at car and racing events. But is that an excuse for driving recklessly?
Below is a snippet of the video to see the moment when she swerved lanes. Alternatively, you can watch the full video here.
In the video, it seems that she had enough time to brake, but she insisted that she weaved between lanes to avoid being 'in a three-car sandwich'.
While I understand her reasoning, if she did not judge her time correctly, her risky manoeuvre could have caused a major accident - thankfully it didn't.
I don't condone her actions. In fact, after seeing the video, there was enough time to slow down. I am always known as the cautious driver amongst my family and friends. I rather play it safe and arrive alive, as they say.
Have you ever intentionally broken a road safety rule to avoid an accident?
