Clothing brand mocked for new dress, material resembles 'sack of onions'

A new dress by a British clothing manufacturer is causing heads to turn over the choice of the material used.
Before my weight loss journey, I would shy away from wearing short dresses and instead chose long, flowy dresses to suit my figure. But over the past few weeks, I have pulled out those short, colourful dresses that have been buried deep in my wardrobe - and it feels so good wearing them!

I am always conscious about the look of a particular dress (as any women would be). I try to choose bright colours that suit my skin tone, which show a bit of skin, but not too much.
Okay, moving on.
While online this weekend, I spotted a dress and its material brought back a flood of childhood memories. While many used a loofah or a sponge, in the Black and Indian communities, they normally use the orange onion sack instead. They sew it up and apparently it's the best thing ever. It's a bit sore at first, but with beauty comes pain, right?
Back to that dress. Mirror reports that a new dress by British clothing manufacturer ASOS is being likened to the orange onion sack. It is called the Elissa Poppy Lacetex Slip dress and costs £350 (over R6,000).
Twitter user Jay Sharif posted a picture of the dress next to a sack of onions, and captioned it: "350 for a dress that looks like onion bag sack allow that #dress #wtf #asos #onalevel #ripped."

I must be honest, the resemblance is uncanny, so much so that I had to do a double-take. Its mesh design is pretty see-through so it doesn't leave too much room for the imagination.
I'm sure that I could get this sewn by a gran for WAY less...
