After experiencing years of miscarriages, Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade finally welcomed their gorgeous daughter, Kaavia James Union Wade, into the world through a surrogate pregnancy on November 7.
Over the months leading up to the birth, Union was open with the public about her struggles with fertility, and "years of shame and humiliation," E! reports.
Over a month following the birth of Kaavia, Gabrielle has finally opened up about her daughter's "birth journey", what was preventing her from holding a baby, and how she felt every step of the way.
"There were heartbreaks that nearly broke us and streams of tears that turned into raging rivers. And then came Kaavia James. This is our birth journey. Thank you all for the love, support and understanding and all the people who held us up when we lost hope," she said in an Instagram post.
