One of Jane's very close friends let her in on an office discussion over the appropriateness of their colleague's dress. Jane wants to know what you make of it.

Dressing up for work can be fun or a bore - depends on how you look at it. We each have our own sense of style that represents us individually. If you feel comfortable in it, then wear it, right?
I received a WhatsApp from a friend on Wednesday who told me about a debate that her office broke out into after her colleague rocked up to work in a dress.

It's not the style of the dress that sparked outrage, but rather the length. Her colleagues complained that her dress was a tad too short for the workplace, and should not be considered 'appropriate work attire'. Ouch!
With permission, my friend sent me the picture of the dress to help me make sense of it all. We have blocked out her face to protect her identity.
Check out the picture of the dress below:
When I first saw the picture - and if I was asked if it was appropriate for the workplace, my go-to knee-jerk, old-school thought was going to be: "No, maybe to the beach, but certainly not for the office".
In thinking about it further, I have changed my mind and back the thought that if she feels comfortable and confident, and she's doing her job, then who's to say what she can or can't wear?

What gives it even more validation is she is working in a place of expression and creativity, so if this is how she expresses her style, she should do so freely. Rock on, sister friend!
