Nothing can prepare you for what you experience. The worst thing is seeing a small child who is sick having an empty chair at the foot of their bed. No one being there to love and comfort them through the pain and discomfort that they experience is heartbreaking.
This video is so wonderful, though. It shows English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran visiting a very sick nine-year-old girl named Melody in hospital. Melody has spent most of her precious little life in hospital. She cannot walk or talk and has been diagnosed with Rett Syndrome, which is a rare neurological disorder.
In this clip, Ed serenades Melody with his famous hit “Photograph”, using her little ukulele. Be still my heart.
