'They forgot to add the chips'
In the mood for a delectable crunchy snack? It's a no-brainer that you'll opt for a bag of chips.
Recently, Mzansi has been up in arms over how the number of chips in a bag has significantly decreased.
"We're basically paying for 50% chips and 50% air," says one Twitter user.
VIRAL: Designer turns Lay's chip packet into luxury bag
To put this theory to the test, MyBroadband purchased and weighed 100 bags of Lay’s 36-gram chips.
It was reported that three of the bags were definitely underweight. Pepsico — the owner of Simba, of which Lay’s is a sub-brand — told MyBroadband that finding a 25-gram bag “was not a common occurrence at all”.
MyBroadband put the following in place: "The chips were purchased in batches from Checkers, Pick n Pay, Spar, and Clicks over two days. Multiple flavours were purchased. No hand-weighing or “pre-checks” were conducted on the chips — we simply put multiple bags into our shopping basket and paid."

Many South Africans have shared sentiments on the matter. "It doesn't matter what brand we look at, chip companies are starting to cut corners. We just want more chips," says one East Coaster.
