Ngubane passed away on Saturday and is survived by his wife and two children.
Following the passing of Ngubane, his family released the following statement to the media:
As a family we wish to thank everyone for their continued and sustained support and the prayers for our beloved son whose battle with kidney failure & sugar diabetes had become an open secret over the years. We wish to mourn the passing of our beloved son in private and will communicate the funeral and other arrangements in due course- Ngubane family Spokesperson
Another person adding his voice to the streams of condolences has been Mfundi Vundla, who is the long-time producer of 'Generations'. Vundla's words of comfort to the Ngubane family were met with some backlash from social media users.
Mfundi and Menzi worked together for more than a decade on several productions, including 'Generations' and the film, 'How To Steal 2 Million'.
The following video was taken at a protest by a group of 'Generations' actors a few years ago. In the video, Ngubane shares in detail the lack of support from 'Generations' and Vundla when he was going through medical difficulties.

Mfundi Vundla suddenly acting like he cares about the death of Menzi Ngubane. A man spent 7 weeks in hospital, fighting for his life... and all he was given just a weekend at home to rest, then go back to work. 😕 pic.twitter.com/O8VUvttb91
Back in 2004, Ngubane was diagnosed with kidney failure and was on the list for a kidney transplant. During the time, there was a lot going on in his life, and he had to juggle it all.
In the video, Menzi shares that after he was discharged from hospital after spending seven weeks there, the following day he received a call sheet to go back to work by 'Generations'.
As weak as I was, I returned to work the next day and did six to seven scenes that day"- Menzi Ngubane

Eishhhh....kubi ngaphandle la💔. No wonder a lot of people in the entertainment industry get depression. They are mistreated left right and centre.
