Updated | By Stacey and J Sbu
A young South African woman has taken to social media to thank complete strangers who have gifted her and her daughter the best gift this festive season.
Nonhle Shandu is the mom of a five-year-old daughter who has Leukemia.
Leukaemia is a blood cancer caused by a rise in the number of white blood cells in your body. Nonhle started a crowdfunding account as soon as her daughter was diagnosed with Leukaemia.

The crowdfunding account was initially under an alias from Nonhle. Still, she decided to show her face and reveal her identity after receiving so much support from strangers who have donated almost R25 000 towards her daughter's medical fees.
According to Nonhle, her daughter was diagnosed with Leukaemia at the age of two; her daughter has been doing chemotherapy since being diagnosed. Unfortunately, her daughter relapsed while she was on maintenance chemotherapy which meant that Nonhle had to seek a private oncologist.

Realizing that she will not be able to carry the financial burden on her own, Nonhle decided to start the crowdfunding account.
Nonhle shares that her medical aid only assists with certain costs for her daughter's treatment, and once her daughter is in remission, she would only then be eligible for a transplant.
