WATCH: The most shocking film of 2021 has divided the internet

Some have even said that this film, 'Titane', is the really grown-up version of a 'Fast and Furious' movie.
Let's explain.
First things first - this is not your average car movie.

On a spectrum of 'Cars' to 'Fast and Furious', 'Titane' is a French/Belgian body-horror film that doesn't fit in anywhere.
This is what makes it a hit amongst filmgoers and critics, as well as a complete disaster amongst filmgoers and critics.

This is your final warning: things are about to get graphic and weird.
The movie made its Cannes Film Festival debut and while some audience members were so captivated by the scenes unfolding in front of their eyes, others were running out of the cinema or even became physically sick and threw up.

So what makes this grotesque horror so special?
Well, for one, the main character, Alexia, falls in love with a car and becomes pregnant.
Iconic director Spike Lee (of 'She's Gotta Have It' and 'Malcom X' fame) had the following to say about the film:
Spike Lee describing TITANE: "I’ve seen a lot of films, but this is the first film ever where a Cadillac impregnated a woman. That blew my mind! That’s genius and craziness together. And those two things often match up."

No information about the movie was made public before its debut.
The only thing that was said about the production was, "Following a series of unexplained crimes, a father is reunited with the son who has been missing for 10 years." They only released the teaser trailer one week before Cannes.

And while many viewers had their suspicions about what the movie was alluding to, no one was prepared for what they were about to see.

While this film might not be in everyone's taste, director Julia Ducournau ticked some strange boxes and has truly captured the right kind of attention at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival by winning the festival's most coveted prize and number one spot.
Think Best Picture Oscar but French - the Palme D'Or.

The last film to walk away with this prize was 'Parasite', which went on to become a legendary Academy Award winner.
Could that be in the cards for 'Titane'? Maybe not, but who needs an Oscar when you've uncovered the Transformers origin story?

All jokes aside, make sure you are truly mentally, emotionally, and physically prepared before choosing 'Titane' for movie night.
