WATCH: AKA details moments before Anele Tembe's death in tell-all interview
Updated | By Stacey and J Sbu
The rapper has broken his silence in an exclusive 'tell-all' interview tonight.
Journalist and news anchor Thembekile Moroto sat down with the man who has been the subject of tabloid papers in the last two months following the tragic death of his fiancée Anele Tembe.
It has been a month since the tragic passing of 22-year-old Anele Tembe, sending shockwaves across the country.
According to Police, in the early hours of Sunday morning, an investigation was opened following the death of Anele Tembe, the fiancée of well-known musician AKA, at the five-star Pepperclub Hotel in central Cape Town.
When the news was finally confirmed, sources close to AKA said he sought counselling and was beside himself with grief, which can be expected. The rapper proposed in February, and the couple had even begun lobola negotiations.
While the matter has been under investigation, and with AKA keeping a low profile in the media, the rumour mill has been on overdrive in particular in the last two weeks.
Pictures and videos began circulating online, one of the most shared, showing the rapper breaking down a door to get to Anele.
In another video, a very distressed Anele is seen being calmed down by an unidentified man who is clearly trying to calm her down whilst AKA records the video whilst he narrates.

The images and video's raised a few eyebrows with regard to what was the true nature of the young couple's relationship and whether or not more was left unknown of the events of that Sunday morning.

Production company head of BarLeader TV, Legend Manqele shared the following statement with The Citizen newspaper:
We had the interview, we felt that he (AKA) could trust our process, so we enlisted the professional help of an independent journalist. For us, we felt it was Thembekile Mrototo, who was able to be independent, make sure he was pushed and asked the tough questions- Legend Manqele
One of the key moments in the interview was the moment in which AKA was asked to detail the nature of his relationship with Anele:
We had a very passionate relationship, yes at times our relationship could become volatile. I am not an abuser, I treated her like gold, she was my everything- AKA
When asked to describe his relationship with Anele, AKA had this to say:
Our relationship was loving, she was everything I have ever wanted. We had difficulties as a couple but we were in a loving relationship- Aka
During the interview, Aka did make some concessions when asked about his anger issues and whether he was able to control his anger whilst in a relationship with Anele.
At times, I can be over the top. I feel like I am a work in progress, It was something Anele and I spoke about...how do we resolve conflict in our relationship.- AKA
