The captaincy is a matter of public interest. There is a huge point of concern around losing a World Cup-winning captain, however, Kolisi is recovering from a serious knee injury that required surgery and should be available for selection in August when the Springboks play three pre-World Cup warm-up internationals.
The culture of unity that has been established among the team means the hope is that Siya will not be missed by his comrades too much.
