Tis the silly season: Why is December the 11th the biggest break-up day of the year?

If your relationship can make it through December, it can make it through anything.
It's that time of the year where one should be filled with joy and love.

Not bitterness, sadness, and resentment.
But alas, some of these things are not always in your control and not everyone is going to be considerate of your feelings.

With a break-up, it's very rare for both parties to leave the situation unscathed.
Why are we talking break-ups when it's supposed to be the happiest time of the year?

Because research shows that the 11th of December is statistically the most popular day of the year for couples to break up.
Is there a method to the madness or is it just pure coincidence?

Apparently, couples have chosen a wide range of reasons for this break-up timing, including not wanting to introduce their significant others to friends and family and even not wanting to spend this time of the year, which can be quite stressful, with someone they are not 100% committed to.
To say we're shocked and confused would be an understatement.
