Since you will obviously be joining me at Chris Saunders Park on Saturday, 23 October, I have been tasked with giving you tips and tricks ahead of the day.

Let's get into it!

1. This is fairly obvious but I will need for you to please warm up. Don't cheat yourself, it's important. Just a couple of stretches, light lunges, etc. can go a long way.

2. Ideally you would have eaten something that's quite light. You need to eat about 30 minutes before you actually start exercising (What in the two tips for the price of one!).

3. You also need to make sure that you are obviously wearing sunscreen because we are not getting any younger. Pause for reaction.

4. STAY HYDRATED! Not just during the workout, also before and after. I like to run with water because I am that person and we don't use public water stops because what are we? Are we cattle grazing in the Serengeti? No. Please take your own water.

5. Warming down is just as important as warming up.

6. The right playlist is integral. Especially if you are going to be doing some running or cardio. Something that either soothes you or will motivate you, or something that's going to push you harder. Studies have shown that hardcore hip hop or rock, actual rock, is the best for that. I though do enjoy a little Ariana Grande, a little bit of a Lady Gaga and, of course, plenty of Beyoncé (You can find my entire workout playlist here).

7. Afterwards, when you've done your warm-down, wash your face and your body ASAP! Get out of those sweaty clothes. It's not great for your skin. And you know, summer bodies, that's what we're working on, now how must you put your body out if it looks like something untoward has befallen you because you didn't get out of your gym clothes? I know you're exhausted but you can do it. Then wait 30 minutes and eat something again to replenish all of those electrolytes.
