The end of a relationship can leave you completely heartbroken. For many of us, it takes some time to bounce back, whilst for others, all it takes is a massive lottery win!
Just a week ago, a 33-year-old Johannesburg man was nursing his heartbreak after his live-in girlfriend ended their courtship. The man was beside himself with sadness.
It took just a day to turn his mood around, however - from sadness to absolute euphoria.

The unidentified man, who works in the finance sector, claimed his National Lottery winnings of R60-million!
I still cannot believe that I have won this much, the most I’ve won from the Lottery is R500- Lotto Winner*
The man went on further to share the following with regards to his now ex-girlfriend, and whether or not she had reached out since finding out the news:
My live-in girlfriend had just broken up with me, and I was not in the best of moods. By the time I checked the results on Friday night, I was by myself as she had already moved out. When I realised that I had won, I thought I was dreaming. I immediately went to take a cold shower and then came back to check again. It was real – lady luck was on my side, but clearly not so much for her!”- Lotto Winner*
Lady luck, hey?
On what he would do with his new fortune, the Johannesburg winner shared the following:
Because of my profession, I am clued up on the kind of investments I want, to ensure that my money keeps working for me and bears interest. I am not going to resign. At the rate things are going I am anticipating a retrenchment in the organisation that I work for and in the industry as a whole. So I will wait for the retrenchment package and my upcoming bonus. It’s money that I have worked hard for so I am definitely waiting for it- Lotto Winner*
On whether or not he would be giving his ex girlfriend a cut of his money?
Oh and I will also buy my ex-girlfriend a fridge, probably a washing machine too, just to say no hard feelings- Lotto Winner*
You never know when your fortune could turn around, KZN!
We just wish we could all be as fortunate to have such a cushion to help us nurse our heartbreaks...
