As expected, this fifth annual Summer Spending survey by short-term lender, Wonga, has found that South Africans will spend less this Festive Season, similarly to Black Friday.
According to this striking survey, households are planning to spend about R5,968 on “extras” over the December break, which is 11% down from last year.

Furthermore, when it comes to finding more money to spend, nearly 40% will use savings, 28% will use their stokvel payout, and 36% will tap into their bonus.
A major concern is raised as many people plan to take out credit this Festive Season and very rarely does the credit get payed back quickly.
Although 77% of the population plan to spend time with friends and family around a braai, we know that people will be tempted to shop 'til they drop.
Here's your sign to be responsible with money and ask yourself, "Do I really need this?"
