Updated | By Stacey and JSbu
It is undoubtedly the second national anthem of the country. 'Nkalakatha' by Mandoza has been a part of every South African celebration that one can think of!
Can you believe that 'Nkalakatha' was released 20 years ago this year? If you are as shocked by this realisation as Stacey and JSbu are, then welcome... and we apologise for making you feel extremely old right now!
On Thursday afternoon, Stacey and JSbu stumbled upon audio that they never knew existed, a version of the popular song that they had never heard of before!
What version, you ask?
The Afrikaans version of 'Nkalakatha'! If you are like Stacey and JSbu and have not heard the song before, have a listen to the snippet below:
Apparently this version of the song was actually released in 2012, 12 years after the original's release. The late Mandoza had this to say when he was asked why he decided to do a remake of the hit song:

Mandoza also released the following video with his record company to explain the remake of the song:
So, what do you think, KZN? Which version do you prefer? The original or this remake?
All we know is that 'Nkalakatha' will forever be iconic!
