The exciting South African 'Bridgerton' event was all the buzz this past weekend!
With the launch of 'Bridgerton' Season 2 on Friday 25 March, media launches have happened in various parts of the world.
South Africa hosted their very own red carpet launch party for South Africa's exclusive celebs and influencers, courtesy of Netflix South Africa
We were so jealous when we saw images and videos of the launch and had serious FOMO!

When Netflix South Africa posted this video on their Instagram account, the video reached a wider audience... but some fans also noticed something interesting online, so we thought we'd taker a deeper look at it.
While some were focusing on spotting their favourite South African celebs, others were focusing on who wasn't there.
According to some fans, the "rainbow nation" was "not popping" at this event.
The comments went completely wild when this detail was put under the microscope.
While #Bridgeton and @netflix chose South Asian representation, South Africa has the largest Indian population outside of India and I didn't see a single prominent South African Indian figure on the @NetflixSA #ABridgertonAffair red carpet. How bizarre. https://t.co/x6gNKI1ppx

Some of the notable celebrities in attendance were former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi, Khanyi Mbau, Nambitha Ben-Mazwi, Coconut Kelz, Thando Thabethe, and so many more...
The theme of the night was 'A Bridgerton Affair', however, the only affair that is currently being spoken of is how fans could not come to grips with the fact that the highly diverse show, 'Bridgerton', had a launch party in South Africa that fans weren't happy with.

Many fans, especially part of the South African Indian community, took to the comments section to share their responses:
- "Disappointing from you guys."
- "I was about to rant off a vent in a single comment but the number of thoughts I have on the lack of representation at this event are far too many to count. There's no RaINbow without Indian."
- "So no Miss Sharma and Miss Edwina Sharma's at the South African premiere?... Extremely disappointed at the representation and the organizers of this event."
- "It’s a no from me. Do better @netflixsa ...Would love to know which PR/events company was in charge of this fail."
- "I love how Bridgerton Season 2 is all about indian representation and yet South Africa fails to understand the assignment once again... interesting."
With the sole focus of Season 2 on Miss Sharma and her sister, who are part of the South Asian community, some fans said they were "uneasy" with the vision not being achieved.
What do you think?
A Durban influencer shared this exact sentiment in her Instagram comment:
We thought this was an incredibly interesting conversation, so we also reached out to Netflix to get more information because we don't know the full story.
As soon as we have an update from the Netflix team, we will share it with you!
